The Loot Llamas in Fortnite Save The World are changing and becoming less random. Currently, Loot Llamas work like most other loot boxes: Players buy them and then open the llamas to find out what random items they’ve received. However, Fortnite is drastically changing the way loot boxes work in the game and and will replace the “V-Buck Llamas” with an “X-Ray Llama” that shows its contents before being opened, now allowing players to see what the 'Llamas' contain before buying. Here are more details of how the loot boxes is working in Fortnite: Save The World now.

 
In a post on January 27 th, Epic Games announced the exciting change, they said that “ We are making this change so we can show you the rewards of each Llama one at a time, which gives you more choice in the Llamas you decide to open.”
 
The standard "V-Buck Llamas" are being replaced with the new "X-Ray Llamas" in Update 7.30. These new loot boxes will tell you up-front what's inside them, and will be refreshed in-store daily. Of course the regular Fortnite Battle Royale mode (that originally wasn't the "regular" mode) will be keeping the standard mystery Llamas. Here are more details of how the changes will work:
 
1. Llamas prices remain the same, and llamas can still be earned through gameplay.
2. The price doesn’t change when the llama upgrades – you can see the upgrade before you purchase, and any item can come from the cheapest Llama. You can wait and find your favorite weapon in a 50 V-Buck llama, with no guessing!
3. The items offered are based on your account in order to apply dupe prevention.
4. Dupe Prevention: Introduced in the v5.10 Patch, after the Llama has determined the item rarity and type of drop (Epic or Legendary Hero, Weapon, or Schematic) it will select an item from that category that is not already in your inventory or Collection Book. This applies to Epic, Legendary and Mythic Heroes, Epic and Legendary Schematics and Mythic Lead Survivors.
Example: This means that if the Llama picks Legendary (rarity) Shotgun (type), for example, it will give you a Legendary Shotgun you do not already have. If you have all of the legendary Shotguns, it will give you a duplicate Shotgun. It will not pick from another category.

Lllamas exist in Battle Royale but they’re rarer, found only in-game, spawn in weird places and contain more items. They are not see-thru like the X-ray Llamas, either.
