How to Get Ready for the New Expansion Lightfall

Clean your vault in advance

Before Lightfall gets here, take a moment to clear out your Vault. If it’s full, you’ll have no room for new drops or infusion material. Get in there, be brutal, and cut out anything you don’t use. Figure out how much room you can give yourself – it’ll be different for everyone. The bonus here is that for every weapon and armor piece you dismantle, you will gain resources like Legendary Shards and Enhancement Cores.

Focus on Bounty Hoarding

Bounty Hoarding is always a thing in between every season, but things are a bit different this time around because of how artifact mods are changing. Now, you’re not just getting XP on bounty turn in to get mod unlocks in the artifact, you are unlocking seasonal perks which will always remain active if you have them on. You can only use I believe 12 a time, but artifact mods as perks are now more valuable than artifact mods ever were, and bounty hoarding is a way to get more of them, faster. Focus on weekly bounties which reward the most XP, and fill in the blanks with dailies. Just don’t fill every slot you have or you may have trouble picking up new quests, leave a few blank.

Craft New Weapons

If you have lots to do and you’re already happy with your arsenal, feel free to skip this bit, but as Season 19 runs dry prior to the Lightfall launch, the remaining weeks are the perfect time to fill a few holes in your collection. What’s more, Bungie is dropping a patch at the end of January that will make it easier to craft the weapons you want faster than before.

Certain weapons from the Witch Queen, subsequent seasons, Raids and Dungeons can be crafted using the Darkness metronome doodad at The Enclave on Mars. In order to craft them, however, you need patterns, which are obtained by extracting Deepsight from special “red border” versions of the weapons.

Gather Upgrade Materials

There is bound to be new equipment you'll want to upgrade come Lightfall, and you'll need plenty of upgrade materials to get them to max level. You can hold 40 Ascendant Shards and Ascendant Alloys across all your characters and their respective Postmasters. You'll use these for Masterworking both standard Exotics and crafted weapons, respectively. Enhancement Prisms should also be on your list to collect, as you can hold a whopping 200.

Complete the Season Pass
