Fallout 76 update Roadmap in 2020, the Brotherhood of Steel will return
With the passing of half of 2020, Bethesda has announced the next updated route plan for Fallout 76. The first is the free weekly experience event that has been launched, and then the return of the Brotherhood of Steel and the 76 season event.
Fallout 76 is currently running a free to play week, incidentally, so now is a good time to hop in and check things out if you’ve been on the fence about the game since it came out in November 2018. Since then, the game has struggled along, building a surprisingly charming base of dedicated fans and ultimately adding NPCs – people who were notably absent from the launch version of the game – in the recent Wastelanders update.
Fallout 76 SEASONS, ONE WASTELAND FOR ALL AND MORE!
2020 sees familiar events like Fasnacht and Meat Week making their annual return to Fallout 76, on top of new features like 76 Seasons, which players can progress through special challenges for plentiful rewards, including Atom Bundles, Perk Card packs, one-of-a-kind cosmetics and more! You can learn more about 76 Seasons in our full Inside the Vault article here. Then, later this year, prepare for One Wasteland for All! This update makes exploring Appalachia together easier than ever thanks to rebalanced combat and loot that scales to every player – regardless of their level! Things then shake up in West Virginia this winter as The Brotherhood of Steel returns to the scene in Fractured Steel, introducing new quests, companions, NPCs and more to Fallout 76!
When update 20 hits this summer, players will be greeted by a new season pass-like system. The first one will be free and is designed like a boardgame. You move from space to space as you rank up by accumulating new S.C.O.R.E. points. There are 100 total ranks, each brings a reward like weapon skins, Power Armor paint, Perk Card packs, consumables, Atoms, and more. Many of the S.C.O.R.E. points are tied to activities you may already be doing, like completing public raids or killing legendary beasts. When you hit rank 100, you unlock an end-of-season bundle that consists of Captain Cosmos items, a Jangles the Moon Monkey stein, and a framed version of the game board for your in-game house. Bethesda is eyeing four different “seasons” a year.
At the end of its blog post, Bethesda states that it intends to run four seasons per year moving forward. Each season will run about 10 weeks with a short reprieve in between different seasons to prep the updates. Players can expect new and exclusive themes each season, with similarly themed gear.
