Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege is a tactical shooter video game developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft. It was released worldwide for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on December 1, 2015. The game puts heavy emphasis on environmental destruction and cooperation between players. Each player assumes control of an attacker or a defender in different gameplay modes such as rescuing a hostage and defusing a bomb.
While Ubisoft is gearing up for the next major update to Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege, a major tournament is on the horizon. Mid-August marks the "Six Major Paris 2018," bringing together the world's top players for a week of tense tactical shooter gameplay.
"Twitch Drops" is a reward system integrated into live-streaming website Twitch, dealing rewards to viewers of select channels. For Rainbow Six Siege, Ubisoft is distributing exclusive in-game items on the platform, serving as a memento for major esports events. These can be earned on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
Rewards are available across Pro League Finals, Six Majors, and Six Invitationals streams, with the next opportunity being the Six Major Paris 2018. While the entire week-long event is streamed online, Twitch Drops rewards will be enabled from August 17 to August 19 during the quarter, semi, and grand finals.
Twitch is also getting some changes, "We will be increasing the amount of noise made by Twitch’s Shock Drone, as player’s had too much trouble hearing the drone even in extremely quiet situations. It is still very discreet, and quieter than other drones. Our goal is to help players that are paying attention be able to pick up on the audio cue from the drone when it is moving."
Dedicated live streams show the unmissable action as it happens, but Ubisoft is offering further incentives to tune in. Watching the final days on the Six Major Paris grants access to exclusive cosmetic rewards – all completely free.
Anyone who hasn't picked up Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege yet will have a chance to give the online shooter a try for free this weekend. Between August 16-20, anyone with an Xbox One, PS4, or PC can play the full game for free, including all maps, modes, and Operators.
PC players can grab the free version from their Uplay PC Launcher. PS4 owners can also get the trial version from Rainbow Six Siege product page on the PlayStation Store; a PS Plus membership is required to play. Those with an Xbox One can get it from the game's page on the Xbox Store. And for the first time, Xbox One owners don't need an Xbox Live Gold subscription to participate--the free Silver level will suffice. Note that you'll still need Gold to play if you end up buying it.
PS4 and PC players can pre-load the game starting August 14, but Xbox One owners will have to wait until August 16 to load it onto their systems.
If you decide to buy the game, you can pick it up at a discounted rate on the various digital stores for a limited time. Any progress you make during the free weekend will carry over into the full game. Here's the date range for the sale. By the way, if you do not seize this chance, the Cheap Rainbow Six Siege Credits are sold in mmocs.com.
